Description
A stunning alcohol-free layered drink inspired by a desert sunset. Fresh orange juice, grenadine, sparkling water, and butterfly pea tea create a vibrant red-to-orange-to-violet gradient in the glass.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 oz fresh orange juice
- 3 oz sparkling water or ginger ale
- 1/2 oz grenadine syrup
- 1/2 oz butterfly pea tea (cooled)
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- Ice cubes
- Orange slice for garnish
- Maraschino cherry for garnish
Instructions
- Steep butterfly pea flowers in hot water for 5 minutes and allow the tea to cool completely.
- Place a highball glass in the freezer for 5 minutes to chill.
- Fill the glass about three quarters full with ice cubes.
- Mix fresh orange juice, sparkling water or ginger ale, and lime juice together.
- Pour the mixture over the ice in the chilled glass.
- Slowly pour grenadine over the back of a bar spoon so it sinks to the bottom and creates the red layer.
- Carefully float the cooled butterfly pea tea on top using the back of a spoon.
- Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry.
- Serve immediately to showcase the layered sunset effect.
Notes
Use freshly squeezed orange juice for the brightest flavor. Chill the glass before preparing the drink to keep the layers stable. Always pour grenadine and butterfly pea tea slowly over the back of a spoon to maintain the layered sunset look.
